These supplementary terms apply specifically to the Shanghai to Sakura Hosted Journey and should be read in conjunction with Magical Traveller’s standard Booking Terms & Conditions.
Important: Package Travel Protection
Your Shanghai to Sakura booking is a package holiday under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018. This means you benefit from full financial protection as detailed in our standard Booking Terms & Conditions.
Your booking is financially protected through our membership of the Travel Trust Association (reference TTA/6330) and ATOL (where applicable). In the unlikely event of our insolvency, you will not lose your money or be stranded abroad.
All rights, protections, and obligations set out in our main Booking Terms & Conditions apply to this journey, in addition to these supplementary conditions.
Hosted Journey & Itinerary
Shanghai to Sakura is a hosted small-group journey curated by Magical Traveller and delivered in partnership with third-party suppliers, including airlines, hotels, local tour operators, and Royal Caribbean International.
What “Hosted” Means:
- Kieran from Magical Traveller will accompany the group throughout the journey
- You’ll receive on-the-ground support, local insights, and coordinated group experiences
- Some activities and excursions may be optional, and guests are free to explore independently at any time
- The journey is limited to a maximum of 25 guests to maintain an intimate, personalized experience
If the Host is Unable to Travel:
In the unlikely event that the designated Magical Traveller host is unable to travel due to illness, personal emergency, or circumstances beyond our control:
- The journey will still proceed as planned with all confirmed arrangements in place
- Local guides and representatives will provide support at each destination
- Royal Caribbean’s onboard staff will continue to deliver the cruise experience
- No refund or compensation will be due specifically for the change of host, as all other travel services remain unaffected
Itinerary Changes:
While every effort is made to operate the itinerary as described, all elements are subject to change. Cruise itineraries, port timings, onboard experiences, and land arrangements may be amended by suppliers due to operational, weather, safety, or regulatory reasons.
Magical Traveller cannot be held responsible for changes made by suppliers but will always communicate updates clearly and act in your best interests where possible.
Supplier Terms & Conditions
Your booking is subject to the terms and conditions of all end suppliers, including but not limited to:
- Royal Caribbean International
- Airlines used for international flights
- Overseas hotels and ground operators
- Local tour companies and activity providers
In the event of any conflict between these supplementary terms and supplier terms, supplier terms will take precedence for matters relating specifically to their services.
Copies of relevant supplier terms will be provided at the time of booking or are available upon request. Key supplier terms will also be highlighted during the booking process.
Health, Fitness & Mobility Requirements
The Shanghai to Sakura journey involves a combination of city exploration, cultural experiences, and shipboard activities. While the itinerary is designed to be accessible, guests should be aware that:
- A reasonable level of mobility and fitness is required to fully participate in the journey
- City tours may involve extended periods of walking, uneven surfaces, stairs, and varied terrain
- Some excursions may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility
- Certain cultural sites and attractions may have accessibility limitations
- Embarkation and disembarkation from the cruise ship requires navigating gangways and stairs
Medical Conditions & Disabilities:
If you or any member of your party has any medical condition, disability, or special requirement that may affect your ability to participate in the journey, you must inform Magical Traveller at the time of booking.
We will work with you and our suppliers to make reasonable adjustments where possible. However, some elements of the itinerary may not be suitable, and alternatives will be discussed.
Failure to disclose relevant medical or mobility information may result in you being denied travel by suppliers, and no refund would be due.
Entry Requirements, Visas & Travel Documentation
Magical Traveller will provide guidance and support regarding passport validity, visas, transit permits, and entry requirements relevant to this itinerary.
However, responsibility ultimately rests with each traveller to ensure they:
- Hold a valid passport (typically valid for at least 6 months beyond the return date)
- Meet all entry and transit requirements for China, Japan, and any countries transited en route
- Obtain any required visas or permits in advance of travel
- Have appropriate travel insurance in place
- Comply with all health and vaccination requirements
Important Notes:
- Entry requirements are subject to change by governments and authorities, sometimes at short notice
- Visa processing times can vary; we recommend applying as early as possible
- Some countries require biometric data or in-person appointments
- Failure to meet entry requirements may result in denial of boarding, and no refund would be due
- Different nationalities may have different requirements; ensure you check requirements specific to your passport
Magical Traveller can recommend trusted visa services and provide supporting documentation where needed, but cannot be held responsible for visa refusals or processing delays.
Travel Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended from the time of booking.
Your insurance should cover, at a minimum:
- Medical expenses and emergency repatriation
- Cancellation and curtailment
- Travel disruption and delays
- Lost, stolen, or damaged baggage
- Personal liability
- Cruise-specific cover (if not included as standard)
Important:
- Magical Traveller does not sell travel insurance and cannot advise on individual policies
- You should carefully review any policy to ensure it meets your specific needs
- Pre-existing medical conditions must be declared to your insurer
- Some activities may require additional coverage
- Failure to obtain adequate insurance is at your own risk
If you choose not to take out travel insurance, Magical Traveller will not be liable for any costs, losses, or expenses that would have been covered by a suitable policy.
Group Size & Group Dynamics
The Shanghai to Sakura journey is designed as an intimate small-group experience, limited to a maximum of 25 guests.
Group Participation:
- While this is a group journey, some activities and excursions may be optional
- Guests are free to explore independently at any time
- Group dinners, excursions, and onboard gatherings will be coordinated but not mandatory
- The group may include solo travelers, couples, families, and friends traveling together
- We encourage a friendly, inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels welcome
Behavior & Conduct:
All guests are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is respectful to fellow travelers, suppliers, local communities, and Magical Traveller representatives.
Magical Traveller reserves the right to remove any guest from the journey if their behavior is deemed disruptive, offensive, unlawful, or detrimental to the experience of others. In such cases, no refund would be due, and the guest would be responsible for their own onward travel arrangements.
Pricing, Payments & Cancellations
Pricing:
All prices are correct at the time of publication but are subject to availability and confirmation. Prices may be subject to surcharges as detailed in our standard Booking Terms & Conditions, including but not limited to:
- Fuel surcharges
- Government taxes and fees
- Currency fluctuations (if applicable)
Deposits & Payments:
A deposit is required to secure your place on the Shanghai to Sakura journey. The remaining balance is payable by the date advised at confirmation (typically 90-120 days before departure, depending on supplier requirements).
Failure to meet payment deadlines may result in cancellation of your booking by suppliers under their terms, and cancellation charges will apply.
Cancellations:
Cancellations are subject to the terms of our standard Booking Terms & Conditions and the terms of all individual suppliers. Given the bespoke nature of this journey and the involvement of multiple suppliers, cancellation charges may be higher than standard packages.
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that includes cancellation cover from the time of booking.

It is your responsibility to:
- Ensure your contact details are up to date

- Attend any pre-departure briefings or calls
Failure to receive communications due to outdated contact details or failure to check emails will not be grounds for complaint or compensation.

Magical Traveller will pass on all reasonable special requests to suppliers, including:
- Dietary requirements and food allergies
- Room preferences (e.g., twin beds, high floor)
- Cabin preferences on the cruise
- Celebration occasions (e.g., birthdays, anniversaries)
Important:
- Special requests are not guaranteed and remain subject to supplier availability and discretion
- Dietary requirements should be notified at the time of booking and reconfirmed closer to departure
- Some requests may incur additional charges
- Failure to accommodate a request does not constitute a breach of contract unless it was confirmed in writing as part of your booking

If any issue arises during your journey, you must:
- Notify the Magical Traveller host (Kieran) immediately
- If the host is unavailable, contact Magical Traveller using the emergency contact details provided
- Report the issue to the relevant supplier (hotel, cruise line, tour operator) as soon as possible
We cannot resolve issues we are not told about, and failure to report a problem during the journey may affect your ability to claim compensation later.
For formal complaints, please refer to the complaints procedure outlined in our standard Booking Terms & Conditions.
Photography, Social Media & Privacy
Throughout the journey, photographs and videos may be taken by Magical Traveller for promotional and marketing purposes, including use on our website, social media channels, and printed materials.
By participating in this journey, you consent to appearing in group photographs and videos unless you notify us otherwise in writing.
You may withdraw this consent at any time, but images already published may remain in use.
