How does Disneyland compare with Walt Disney World?
It’s much smaller and easier to get around: two parks side by side rather than four spread out. It has its own originals, such as the first Haunted Mansion and Cars Land, and it’s easy to combine with the rest of California.
How many days do we need?
Three days covers both parks comfortably. Add a fourth for a slower pace, the night-time shows and Downtown Disney.
Do we need a car?
Not for Disneyland itself, because everything is walkable from the hotels. A car is useful if you’re adding a road trip, and we can arrange car hire and transfers.
What’s unique to Disneyland?
It’s the only park Walt Disney walked himself, with the original Sleeping Beauty Castle, the first Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, plus Cars Land and the World of Color show next door at California Adventure.
Do I need an ESTA?
UK passport holders on holiday normally need an approved ESTA before travelling to the US. Apply on the official US government website and check the rules for your dates.
