Virgin Voyages has redefined the world of cruise ship entertainment with its fleet of ladyships, including the recent launch of Resilient Lady, Scarlet Lady, and Valiant Lady.
From ground-breaking performances to innovative entertainment concepts, Virgin Voyages Entertainment offers an adult-centric, boundary-pushing experience at sea. Here’s a detailed look at what entertainment is offered on Virgin Voyages and what guests can expect onboard these magnificent ships.
The Vision Behind Virgin Voyages Entertainment
Richard Branson’s Influence
Richard Branson’s vision for Virgin Voyages was to break away from the conventional and introduce a fresh, bold approach to cruise entertainment. His influence is evident in every aspect of the entertainment lineup, which is designed to surprise and delight guests.
The ships themselves are nearly identical, but Virgin has decided to use its entertainment program to make each ship feel unique. Some shows feature on more than one ship, and some are unique to each ship, giving you a reason to sail again on a different Lady Ship
The Philosophy of ‘Rebellious Luxe’
The concept of ‘Rebellious Luxe’ combines luxury with a non-conformist spirit. This philosophy permeates the entertainment offerings, ensuring a unique blend of sophistication and fun.
The shows that are featured on board are designed to test your limits and boundaries on what cruise ship entertainment can be, these shine through with the design of their entertainment venues, which in themselves, aren’t traditional.
A Variety of Entertainment Venues
The Red Room
The Red Room is the main theatre on Virgin Voyages, offering a flexible space that transforms to fit the needs of various performances. In some shows you may sit in traditional tiered theatre style, you could be sat across from each other, or, in some shows, be stood amounts the show and performances take place all around you.
The transformation space is used to great effect, meaning you never know what to expect next when watching a show on Virgin Voyages
The Manor
Inspired by Richard Branson’s first recording studio, The Manor is a two-story nightclub that hosts late-night parties, DJ sets, and themed events, providing a vibrant nightlife experience.
During the daytime, you may find shows featuring The Happenings Cast, the Virgin Voyages equivalent to the Entertainment team found on other cruise lines. With shows like Around the World with The Diva a Drag Show. The Hostess has a show here called The Hostess Sings Her Secrets, which is a cabaret lounge-style show, and each Diva gets to showcase their vocal talents.
It’s not just traditional shows that will take place in The Manor, shows like VHS Workout often take place in The Manor, which is a fun 80’s/90’s workout session.
The Dock/The Dockhouse
The Dock and the Dockhouse will often feature gameshow and live music, ranging from more intimate acoustic sets to full band performances, perfect for relaxing and unwinding with a cocktail or two.
On the Rocks
On the Rocks is the Bar at the heart of the ship, and will often feature several musical shows and live bands. During the evenings there is often a house band that will perform or several rotational acts.
Signature Shows and Performances
These shows are the feature shows that take place in the Manor, these shows are the Virgin Voyages equivalent of the signature shows you would find in the main theatre on traditional cruise lines.
Untitled Dance Party Show Thing – Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady
Every time I try to explain this show, I feel like I’m failing, as it has to be experienced to fully understand, which is probably part of the reason it has such an unusual name.
Untitled, as it is often shorted, is a sensory experience, that’s part cabaret, part dance show, and part party with a Conga Line. It has become one of my favourite shows, with its high-energy dance performance, with a deeper meaning to the performance, that keeps one foot in camp flamboyance.
There is a storyline here about the pressures of social media, fitting in, and finding the people you fit in with, embracing your true self, with a very touching section in the middle of the show that always gets me, but at its heart, it’s just a high-energy fun time.
Dual Reality: A modern take on Romeo and Juliet – Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady
Dual Reality is a modern take on West Side Story meets Romeo and Juliet, performed by a cast of incredible circus performers; the Blue and Red sides face each other in death-defying acrobatics in the quest to pursue the heart’s true desire despite prejudices.
This show often challenges people as you are sat on either side of the Red Room and made to choose a side. Then your team will face off against each other to see which team is the best, and the rivalry gets heated in the quest for the top spot, but can these two sides come together and learn to see past their colours?
Ships in the Night – Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady
A visually stunning performance that utilises state-of-the-art technology and interactive elements to create a beautifully arresting show about those connections we make in life, be they short fleeting moments, or lifelong impactful moments.
Ships in the Night is perhaps the most traditional Cruise Ship show offered by Virgin on their fleet, but it’s a truly beautiful show.
Persephone: A Battle of the Gods – Resilient Lady
Shows like “Persephone,” an enthralling take on the Greek myth, feature dazzling performances with a modern twist. Adult themes, racy content, and the sheer talent of the cast make these shows unrivalled on the high seas. Virgin Voyages’ commitment to boundary-pushing entertainment is evident in every aspect of their productions.
Mind Mangler: Member of the Tragic Circle – Resilient Lady
Mind Mangler, I can’t say too much about the show for fear of giving away the concept too much, It is a magic show that was created by the team behind the hit show The Play That Goes Wrong. So expect off-kilter humour and an uncomfortable performance, but that is by design, and once you are in on the joke, it’s a hysterical show, with some genuinely brilliant magic tricks.
Miss Behave Show – Valiant Lady and Resilient Lady
We love Miss Behave Show. It was a surprise hit for us on our first Resilient Lady Show. It’s part audience participation, part game show, and all chaos.
The audience is broken up into two teams and has to battle it out for points in a game show where the core rule is “lifes not fair”. We have seen this show so many times, and it’s always different, the hosts bring so much energy to the show, and each audience makes the show different, so go with an open mind, and get involved.
Lola’s Library (Resilient Lady)
Lola invites you into her library and guides you through various literary genres, bringing them to life in unexpected and thrilling ways. Lola’s presence is captivating, and she seamlessly connects the different segments of the show.
The show is divided into three different acts throughout the night. This allows guests to enjoy the performance at their own pace, choosing to watch one act at a time or experience the entire show over multiple nights.
Lola’s Library has become one of our favourites onboard Virgin Voyages if you want a good view, be sure to arrive in advance as spaces fill up, but on longer voyages, it is often run multiple times, so you can try again if you missed an act, or cant get a decent view.
The show ends with a lively disco in The Manor, where guests can dance and celebrate the end of an unforgettable night. The campy, sexy vibe of the show ensures that it’s a favourite among Virgin Voyages’ guests.
Festival Stage Acts
The Virgin Voyages Festival Stage is a curated collection of guest acts, be that comedians, bands and speciality acts. There’s always something new to enjoy. We have seen Abandoman onboard, who was very good and funny.
There was also a vocal performance group on our Oct 2023 voyage on Resilient Lady, others enjoyed them, but I found their music was for the more mature cruise fan, with a lot of 80’s American Rock, Not a knock on their talent, they were brilliant performers, just not my personal preference.
Virgin Voyages Supper Club
The Virgin Voyages Supper Club series of events are intimate dinner shows that often take place in The Manor. They typically take the form of a dinner show, however, Virgin Voyages being Virgin Voyges, you can always expect the unexpected.
Another Rose – Resilient Lady
Another Rose is currently exclusive to Resilient Lady. This show does carry an extra charge, at the time of writing that was $50pp, but includes a four-course meal, a generous serving of cocktails, and sparking Rose.
It’s a tale of following your heart, trusting the person you love, and embracing the heart’s more carnal desires.
You can read our guide and review of Another Rose here
Lolz Supper Club
New for 2024, Scarlet Lady has debuted a new Supper show called Lolz Supper Club. We haven’t experienced this one personally, but it’s along the same format as Another Rose, with a dining menu, and a rotating collection of Comedians to enjoy as you dine. We hope to share more soon.

Nightlife and Themed Parties on Virgin Voyages
There are several themed parties on Virgin Voyages, some of them are more overall concepts, and some are full parties with pop-up performances. Some even allow the opportunity to get dressed up and indulge in the theme.
We Fancy: A Night of Elegance and Extravagance
(Resilient Lady, Valiant Lady, Brilliant Lady)
We Fancy encourages guests to dress in their finest attire, making it a night of glitz and glamour. Showcase your fancy self, and join in on a party that is about showcasing your inner confidence, and shouting from the rafters “WE FANCY”
The Party takes place in the Manor, with pop-up performances from the Happening Cast. The music is more Top 100, with an edge towards pop music. The Happenings cast wears gold, so many Sailors have started to dress in gold or metallics too, but there is no requirement to do so, ultimately, dress in whatever makes you feel fancy.
We love We Fancy, it’s such an empowering and fun event and a great way to start an evening in The Manor. Think of it more as a rallying cry and celebration to be bold.
PJ Party: A Cozy and Fun-Filled Night (All Ships)
PJ Party started as a small party locked away inside the ship but has taken off and become one of the biggest parties on Virgin Voyages. It’s a relaxed and cosy Party that’s typically on the first night, so it’s a fun relaxed party to set the tone for your voyage.
PJ party is usually held in the Athletic Club, the top deck at the Aft of the ship in good weather, Should the weather not be great, then it is held inside The Manor.
Most Sailors choose to dress up in some sexy PJs, but you will also find people in Onesies, shorts and tee shirts, there is no standard dress code. The theme is open to interpretation.
The Diva and The Hostess perform some fun games, like the best dressed, perform some songs, and hand out cookies.
Klub Rubrik: The Ultimate 80’s Nightclub Experience (Resilient Lady and Brilliant Lady)
Klub Rubrik is the Ultimate 80’s Party. Taking place in The Manor, this party is a multisensory delight. The Happenings Cast perform several set pieces throughout the night, all inspired by some of your favourite 80’s hits.
With pulsating music, dazzling lights, and an electric atmosphere, Klub Rubrik is the place to be for those who love the 80’s. Many sailors go the extra mile with 80’s attire or Neon costumes.
Studio 72: Disco Fever on the High Seas (Valiant Lady and Scarlet Lady)
Studio 72 takes sailors back to the era of DISCO. Studio 72 has a retro 70’s vibe, which opens with a variety of performances by the Dual Reality Cast, performing some incredible circus skills.
The music here is firmly set in 70’s Disco, but once the Dual Reality cast has performed their opening performance, there are no other dances or songs by the happenings Cast. Which is a shame, and does make this night, fall a little flat if we are honest.
Sailors are encouraged to embrace the disco theme with vintage outfits straight out of the 70s, that said, we have never noticed anyone dressed to match the theme of this party on any of our sailings.
Heartbeat: A Celebration of Love and Connection
Heartbeat is perhaps the closest to a traditional club-themed club night onboard Virgin Voyages than any others on this list. It’s more a club night than a themed party, but The Happenings Cast and Untitled Cast wear Red metallic and sequin outfits, and a few performances wear Silver.
It is a celebration of unity and connection that can be found through each other’s heartbeats, and everyone is invited to come together to dance the night away to a unified beat.
We have always found it a lot of fun, with the music being a nice mix of contemporary pop songs, and club anthems mixed in. The music does get progressively more club anthems and house beats as the evening goes on but culminates in a song and dance performance to an adapted version of Lorde Green Light, which is worth waiting around for.
Scarlet Night: The Ultimate Party
Scarlet Night is the highlight of any Virgin Voyage, in our opinion, its the best party at sea.
The whole ship is transformed with special decorations and lighting, which sets the tone that something special is about to happen. Starting at 9 pm in the Roundabout, the heart of the ship with a musical performance, and then expanding outward from there with events and activations across the whole ship.
There is a tragic love story that is woven throughout Scarlet Night, a tale of the Octopus Goddess and how she fell in love with a Sailor from the surface. We celebrate that love story on Scarlet Night, with the story unfolding through a series of events across the ship that tell different sides of that story, you can even visit the Octopuss Godess herself on The Octopus Garden.
The Party culminates with a party around the main pool, which kicks off with the ship cast performing an incredible song and dance performance, before inviting you to jump into the pool.
Sailors are invited to get in on the fun, by wearing a Splash of Red on Scarlet night, and this is one party that everyone gets in on the theme.
Daytime Activities and events
Beyond the spectacular evening entertainment and live music, Virgin Voyages offers an array of daytime activities. The ships cater to various interests, from fitness classes and live music to spa treatments. With its chilled-out vibe, the pool deck serves as a central hub for daytime relaxation and socialising.
There are several optional classes and quizzes to choose from, but even these all have a Virgin Voyage spin on them.
Drinks classes such as Shot for Shot, where you learn how to make cocktails with your hosts, the Foodie and The Spark, or Plate, Snap, Eat, its food-based sibling event are fun paid for events.
Quizzes are hosted throughout the day, Coffee Quiz Latte, You Stay with The Diva, Movies Quizzes, Music Quizzes, and Random Trivia Quizzes like Risky Quizness are always fun.
There are also paid-for casino and gambling games, like Sea Horse Race betting, and Bingo with a twist, Bingo with the Diva, there’s no cookie-cutter entertainment board Virgin Voyages.
Around the World with the Diva
This show is so special, it deserves its own section. The Diva, the Virgin Voyages Resident Drag Queen hosts her own show in The Manor. This camp, tongue firmly in cheek show is a whirlwind show around the world with cabaret performances, audience participation games, and a showcase of The Divas unique style.
This show is always popular, so make sure you arrive early to get a good seat, and don’t think just because you are at the back, that The Diva won’t find you and ask you to participate in one of her games.
The show happens multiple times thought your voyage, so make sure yo make a note of the times.
Fitness and Wellness: A Focus on Wellbeing
State-of-the-Art Fitness Facilities
Fitness plays a central part in all Virgin Voyages cruises. Fitness isn’t relegated to the lower decks, it’s front and centre. You can also find an open-air boxing ring, an elevated running track and prime location workout spaces, allowing fitness fans to keep fit and still enjoy some of the best views on offer whilst sailing at sea.
Plus, when you factor in that all group fitness classes are included in your cruise fare, Virgin Voyages is the perfect cruise choice for those looking to stay fit whilst enjoying their detox and detox holidays.
The Redemption Spa and Thermal Suite
With its beautiful thermal circuit, the Redemption Spa on Deck 5 provides an oasis of relaxation and rejuvenation. While these services come at an extra cost, they are highly sought after and provide an added luxury to the Virgin Voyages experience.
