Ahoy everyone.

We’re eagerly waiting to get on board the beautiful Lady Ship today for our back-to-back voyage.

We decided to stay in Athens on this trip, since we have my mother with us, and I’m so glad we did. The Athens Gate Hotel is ideally located with a beautiful view of the Acropolis and a short walk to many local bars and restaurants.

These were recommended to us by another agent, so I won’t take credit, but if you are a fan of rum, be sure to head to Baba Au Rum, it’s a fantastic small bar, but it has the most amazing rum cocktails.

There is also the Clumsies, which has a fantastic cocktail menu; we found the service was slow, but others who suggested it have said they didn’t have the same issue. But it’s worth it for the cocktails also.

I will share what we get up to over the next two weeks, but if you check my posts, you can also see some posts from when we sailed on the Adriatic Seas and Greek Gems in May this year.

Day One - Boarding Day

Breakfast at Athens Gate Hotel as a delight, with fantastic views from the rooftop bar.

We took an Uber from Athens Gate Hotel to the cruise terminal; it cost us €18. we’ve now started to advise our customer to do this rather than pre-book their transfers, but we are always happy to pre-book them if they are uncomfortable arranging their own or if they are travelling in a larger group.

We have Deep Blue Extras with Virgin, so we were allowed to check in just after the Rockstar guests. We were asked to wait in an air-conditioned marquee tent, where water was available whilst we waited.

It wasn’t long until we were invited onto Resilient Lady. Since it was my mother’s first time onboard, I gave her a quick tour of all the main spaces to help her get a feel for the layout, then headed to our cabin to unpack. We’re on for two weeks, so it was nice to know we are unpacked and set for our coming adventures.

We then headed to the main pool for sail-away drinks, which we took advantage of the unlimited bubbles for the 30 minutes they offered it.

It was great to meet some of the happenings cast, many of whom were on my Scarlet Lady sailing this April; I’ll do a separate post about them later.

Dinner was in Razzle Dazzle, which I think is an often overlooked highlight. The concept isn’t as big as the other main eateries, and the new menu is a delight, with less focus on the vegetarian-forward concept they launched the restaurant with. They can still be found, just not as many.

You can find all the new menus on our website magical-traveller.com/resilient-lady-new-menus

We then went to watch Persephone, one of the new shows that launched with Resilient Lady; it’s a contemporary retelling of the Greek tale of how Persephone fell in love with Hades, the god of the underworld. It’s an absolute spectacle of a show, and has performers moving throughout the whole of the Red Room.

A quick costume change, before heading to the PJ party, which, in good weather, is held in the Athletic Club, right at the aft of the ship. I’ll be honest: I prefer it in the Manor as it feels more intentional, but it’s a fun way to start the voyage, and I like how popular it has become in the last two years.

The Happenings cast performed some songs and handed out cookies.

We had a fantastic first day, but I was exhausted and needed some rest, so it was time for me to take my PJs and actually head to bed.
