Virgin Voyages RockStar Quarters: Suite Perks and Is It Worth It?

Living room with a curved sofa in a Mega RockStar suite on Virgin Voyages

Virgin Voyages doesn’t call its suites suites. It calls them RockStar Quarters, and the people staying in them are RockStars. It’s a very Virgin bit of branding, but there’s real substance behind it: a different way on board, a private rooftop bar, a team looking after you, and perks that carry on ashore at the Beach Club at Bimini.

We’ve never booked a RockStar suite ourselves, but in more than 100 nights with Virgin we’ve had RockStar access on several sailings, from Richard’s Rooftop to the RockStar lines on board and at the Beach Club, and we’ve toured plenty of the suites. That’s exactly why we want to be honest here: some of it is brilliant, some of it matters less than you’d think, and it isn’t the right choice for everyone.

RockStar vs Mega RockStar: what’s the difference?

Virgin splits its suites into two groups:

  • RockStar Quarters are the entry and mid-level suites, such as the Sweet Aft, Cheeky Corner, Seriously and Brilliant Suites. More space than a Sea Terrace, a bigger terrace, and the core RockStar perks.
  • Mega RockStar Quarters are the top suites, including the Gorgeous, Posh and Fab Suites and the two Massive Suites perched above the bridge, which come with a private terrace hot tub and their own music room.

Mega RockStars get everything RockStars do, plus private transfers to and from the ship (or free parking), a RockStar Agent of their own, a complimentary daily bar tab for drinks around the ship, Thermal Suite access in Redemption Spa and a bottomless in-suite bar that’s topped up during the voyage.

If you’re trying to picture the categories, these are Virgin’s own photos of the suites, from the Sweet Aft and Cheeky Corner Suites up to the Massive Suite with its terrace hot tub:

Arriving like a RockStar

The difference starts before you’ve even seen the ship. At Terminal V in Miami, RockStars use their own entrance, Palm Way, with a separate check-in area. While the main hall was busy, we were through and on board with a glass of something in our hands remarkably quickly.

For comparison, the main Ahoy Sailor entrance is in the same terminal. Palm Way has its own door and check-in desks, and once we were on board we headed straight up on deck for the sail-away.

Richard’s Rooftop

If there’s one perk RockStars talk about, it’s this. Richard’s Rooftop is a private bar and terrace for RockStar guests only, with loungers, sea views and a calm you won’t find around the main pool on a sea day. On our sailing in April 2026 there was an hour of free-flowing Moët every day, which became a very sociable fixture. Perks like this can change, so check the Sailor App for what’s on during your voyage.

Prices for anything beyond the included pours are on our Richard’s Rooftop menu.

Your RockStar team and in-suite perks

RockStars get a dedicated team (Virgin calls them RockStar Agents) to handle restaurant and show bookings, special requests and anything that needs sorting. In practice, it means one message instead of queueing at Sailor Services.

  • Dining reservations open 120 days before you sail, compared with 15 to 60 days on the other fares. On a busy sailing, that alone can be the difference between getting into Gunbae and not.
  • A curated in-suite bar, with the first round on Virgin.
  • Early booking and priority access to restaurants, events and Shore Things.

Inside a RockStar suite

We’ve toured a range of RockStar and Mega RockStar Quarters on a Virgin ship visit, including a Massive Suite: the top Mega RockStar suite, with a music room (guitars on the wall), a huge terrace and its own hot tub. Suite designs are very similar across Virgin’s ships. Expect marble bathrooms (some with porthole showers), a well-stocked bar cabinet, plenty of space to spread out and, of course, the red hammock on the terrace.

RockStar Quarters sit outside Virgin’s Base, Essential and Premium fares. Our VoyageFair Choices guide explains how the other fares work.

Skipping the standby line: the perk nobody talks about

If you ask us, this is one of the biggest RockStar perks, and hardly anyone mentions it. Some shows have limited seats, especially the ones in The Manor such as Murder in the Manor. Your RockStar Agent can usually get you in anyway, but if you’re unlucky there’s a standby line, and RockStars are let in ahead of standard Sailors waiting in it.

On our Alaska sailing on Brilliant Lady, we hadn’t managed to get a reservation for Murder in the Manor. We joined the RockStar line and ended up in floor seats. On the same sailing, Scarlet Night’s main event was in the Red Room, and the RockStar line got us VIP entry and the best view of the night.

Tender ports

It’s the same story in tender ports. Let the crew or your RockStar Agent know you’re a RockStar and you can skip the tender queue, both going ashore and coming back to the ship. On some itineraries that makes a real difference: our Alaska sailing had two tender ports, and we went to the front of the line each time, including for the tender back to the ship.

RockStar at the Beach Club at Bimini

This was the perk we didn’t expect to love as much as we did. On our April 2026 sailing, RockStars at the Beach Club at Bimini had their own area, the RockStar Quarter, with a private bar and reserved sea-view loungers. There was even a RockStar golf cart from the pier to the beach.

On a busy beach-club day, having somewhere guaranteed to sit, with a bar that isn’t three deep, makes a real difference. Read our full Beach Club at Bimini guide.

RockStar vs Sea Terrace: what you give up

Most of our nights with Virgin have been in standard cabins, so we know both sides well. On Brilliant Lady in September 2026 we were in a Sea Terrace, and you still get a lot: the red hammock on the terrace, every restaurant, the shows and the parties. These are the differences you’ll actually notice:

So, is a RockStar suite worth it?

Here’s our honest take, having enjoyed the RockStar perks and sailed plenty in standard cabins:

It’s worth it if…

  • you’re celebrating something big and want the whole trip to feel special;
  • you’re on a longer sailing, where the extra space and the rooftop really come into their own;
  • you hate queues and want the restaurants you love booked months ahead;
  • you’re travelling as a group of friends and want a base to gather in.

Save your money if…

  • you’re on a short 4 or 5-night sailing and will barely be in the cabin;
  • you’re a first-timer who just wants to see what Virgin is about (a Sea Terrace is excellent, and you can spend the difference on the holiday);
  • the perks you care about can be bought separately, such as the spa or a cabana at Bimini.

One more thing: Virgin’s standard cabins are genuinely good. If you’re weighing it up, start with our Sea Terrace guide and cabin guide, then talk to us about the price difference on your dates.

RockStar FAQs

What is a RockStar on Virgin Voyages?

RockStar is Virgin’s name for suite guests. RockStar Quarters are the suites; Mega RockStar Quarters are the largest ones, including the two Massive Suites above the bridge.

What do RockStars get?

A separate embarkation route, access to Richard’s Rooftop, a dedicated RockStar team, an in-suite bar, a 120-day dining reservation window and RockStar perks at the Beach Club at Bimini. Perks vary by suite level.

What is Richard’s Rooftop?

A private bar and terrace on each ship, just for RockStar guests.

Do RockStars get a drinks package?

There isn’t a drinks package on Virgin, even for RockStars. RockStar suites have a curated in-suite bar with the first round on Virgin. Mega RockStars also get a complimentary daily bar tab and a bottomless in-suite bar, and some drinks are included at Richard’s Rooftop.

Are RockStar suites part of VoyageFair Choices?

No. Base, Essential and Premium apply to Sea Terraces and below. RockStar and Mega RockStar Quarters have their own terms and perks.

Is a RockStar suite worth the money?

On a longer sailing or a special celebration, often yes. On a short first sailing, most people are just as happy in a Sea Terrace.

Do RockStars get private transfers?

Mega RockStars get private transfers to and from the ship, or free parking where it’s available. RockStar suites don’t include transfers.

Is there a separate RockStar check-in?

Yes. At Terminal V in Miami, RockStars use their own entrance, Palm Way, with separate check-in desks.

Do RockStars get priority for shows?

Yes. Your RockStar Agent can usually book you in, and if a show is full, RockStars are let in from the standby line ahead of standard Sailors. It matters most for the smaller shows in The Manor, such as Murder in the Manor.

Do RockStars skip the tender queue?

Yes. Tell the crew or your RockStar Agent you’re a RockStar and you can skip the tender queue, both going ashore and coming back to the ship.
